For my Japanese class, we had to write an essay on a topic of our choice; I did lolita fashion! I hope you find it interesting, and if there are any glaring mistakes, funny :) (but if there are, my teacher is forever misinformed!!) Umm there might be typos. The grammar should be very easy to understand, because I suck at Japanese LoL

it came up all question marks for me. It's a good idea to write stuff on. I wrote an article in the school newspaper on Lolita. It was fun!

Haha ugh I'm sorry guys!! Here it is translated (it's going to sound really weird, grammatically haha):

Lolita Fashion

Recently in America, the amount of people who know about Lolita Fashion has increased. However, there are still a lot of people who don't know it. A fashion in which you wear Rococo and Victorian era clothing is called Lolita. The word "lolita" comes from Vladimir Nabokov's book. In this book, "lolita" has the meaning of a "flower on a precipice" (unreachable) young girl. In Nabokov's time, "lolita" had a sexy image, but now that image is not necessarily true. Now, the word is connected to street fashion, and has become a new fashion. Usually there is a cute image, but there are also dark and cool images.

Four categories in lolita fashion are punk, sweet, gothic, and classic. There are other classifications, but those four are the most famous. In gothic style you only use dark colors, and on the other hand sweet lolitas wear very bright colors. Classic lolitas use dark colors and wear Rococo and Victorian era clothing, while punk lolitas use modern era clothing. In Japan, if you go to Harajuku, you can see many lolita clothing stores and young girls wearing lolita clothing. Now, in America, there aren't really stores that sell clothing of lolita fashion, but there are some. However, the population of people who know about lolita fashion is getting bigger.

Why is lolita fashion becoming more popular in America? Recently, Japanese anime and music is popular. Because anime is Japanese pop culture, various popular things get included. Often, musicians and anime characters wear lolita fashion, and as a result, Americans search for and try lolita fashion. If they like it, they wear that fashion. Those people wearing it walk around somewhere, other people see it, and they ask "aah, those clothes are cute and interesting, what are they?" Therefore, various Americans learn about lolita fashion.
