My boyfriend and I have been listening to a ton of the above mentioned music lately - stuff like aha - Take on Me, Fleetwood Mac, Blondie, Ramones, Johnny Cash - The Man Comes Around, The Beatles, Chicago, Genesis, as well as some oldies and doo-wop music.

Anyone else that loves old-school music, give me a HUZZAH!! :D

I love Johny Cash too! and Take On Me. Sounds like fun a fun colection of music you guys have dug out. I'm going to have to have a dig around our MP3s and see what I can find?

I really love 80's tastic music, though i can never remebmer band names- such glorious songs as i eat cannibals, and turning japanese and men without hats really float my boat!

Actually, the dance itself is the exact opposite. Pulled muscles and bruises are usually involved, unless one's limber as a mofo.

the safety dance is by far one of the best 80's tunes-hey it's gotta be good if they use it in the Simpsons!

some of the original Men Without Hats albums used to include step-by-step diagrams on how to do the Safety Dance. A cousin of mine, who's a professional dancer, managed to pull it off without injuring himself, which is damn amazing. It starts off with kinda slow, fluid movements, and as the song progresses the dance moves gradually gets faster and more jerkier. This is the part where many people pull a muscle or two. Near the end of the song, the moves quicken the pace, making the dancer look like he's in some kind of seizure =P THAT's when most of the pulled muscles and bruises occur!

It's...a really bizarre dance. If anyone gets a hold of the dance instructions, then I highly suggest that you get drunk first so that you won't feel much pain :p

Ugh, 80's Genesis sucks sooooo baaaad. They were great with Peter Gabriel as their lead. And then he left, and Steve Hackett left, and the band went to shit.

I heard rumor that the "Safety Dance" was actually moshing. It actually makes a bit of sense....dance where you want to, leave friends behind, needing a lot of safety to deal with crazy people!

hehe, well since I work on a small assembly line, sitting gets pretty dull after a while. So, every couple of hours we get up and do some stretches....I did the safety dance :D

Hey midgetgem, oh my god what a week and more it has been. My husband and I were having some unexpected financial problems Again (the joys of being newlyweds) and I've been going to work everyday at 2:30AM....in all honesty I've been so tired I just would come home and crash but today I decided to go in at my regular time and maybe limit my long days to 3 or 4 times a week. Your package is in the mail, I hope it gets there soon but I forgot to ask them how long it would take. I got yours and I gotta say the tea is amazing.......and this has absolutely nothing to do with the thread but oh welll......I'M GOING INSANE, AAAAHHHHHH WOOOORKKKKKKKK..........hehe, I wore my new necklace everyday that you sent me too, maybe that helped me be a little more sane, who knows.....Ummmmmm, I LOVE 80S MUSIC YEAH :D :D
