oh poor school band!!!!!
and actually at least once every month I tell myself I'm getting completly sick of the clarinet but I can't quit I want to go to europe!!!!!!!
and I get out of it after a concert because it makes me strive to become a better musician.....even though I don't want to have a career in music when I grow up and if I do it'll be in a band with my guitar and my singing

why wouldn't it be? I consider my button jacket a musical instrument why can't the voice be one? you make music with it

I'm from a musical family, but for some reason I haven't really had any formal training...
Some guitar, voice, and a lot of percussion 8)

I used to play the cello, and electric guitar, I'd like to get back into playing the cello again.
My biggest aim in life as far as music goes right now it to learn the erhu, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fj13KU3SAvE) I think it's the most beautiful sounding instument in the world.
I'm having a hard time finding instruction though, and all the printed material in in Chinese. I'm not giving up though!

How could you give up the cello?!?!? You must learn it again! Never abandon the cello!!! <---as you can see, I play the cello. :D Right now I'm learning Pachelbel's canon (as a soloist, not an accompanist) and Bach's Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, which has got to be one of the most beautful songs in the world... I'm in a strolling group at my HS (like a show orchestra) where we memorize our music and dance while we play. It's the best! I also play the piano, but I've only been doing it for about two years so I'm not very good yet. My parents want me to go to college on a music scholarship, but I don't know if I want to...

Oh, the erhu, that's amazing! I love that instrument as well. It's so sad that there's many instruments that rarely see the light of day outside of their country of origin. I've always wanted to learn the shamisen, haha. :D

Piano! :D I took lessons for about 2-3 years. Everything else I can do I taught myself. I started practicing more during freetime in chorus this year *Mainly playing chopsticks over and over xD *. I'm still not too amazing at it but I do okay. xD
I'm like super envious of people with percussion skills though! Cools! ^__^

I took piano lessons back in the day. I was decent at it, but I wasn't big on practicing, heh. Story of my life. I seem to get bored of things easily. I still can play, it just takes a while to read complicated music. Classical music is the best! Most of all I like making up my own stuff, or playing by ear.
And a couple years ago I started up with the guitar. My dad's spoiled me and now I have a bass, acoustic/electric, B&W epiphone Les Paul electric, and a bright red Yamaha electric... I don't think I have a knack for it, unfortuantely, haha.
I've always wanted to play drums, though! All I've got is a snare drum as my parents won't let me get a set. I don't blame 'em, though. There's the money, the racket one would cause, and the possibility of me getting bored of percussion. I wonder how good I'd be now if I still played the violin (took it up only in the 3rd grade since it was the only thing available to me... I played a mean "Can-Can"!)

I started learning to play the piano when I was very young and I was in choir elementary school all the way up through high school. I also play the lap harp and a teeny hammered dulcimer. I just received a tiny little koto as I gift and if I could just learn to tune it properly I would at least be able to play Sakura Sakura on it! My favorite type of music to play is early medieval; it's so simple and yet so wonderfully complex.

Yea, bass was fun, but it's just really hard to hold the strings down right, especially since it's a lot thicker and the frets are a lot wider apart than a guitar... o-o
On my acoustic, I play songs my choir sings at our church (I helped start a youth choir/group). Yes, it's christian, but it really has a rock feel. I play this about once a month.
On my electric, it's the real fun stuff. Punk, classic rock, and j-rock. OH and a little bit of metal too. I recently bought myself an electric, so I havent been really learning the songs I really wanted, but now I'm learning a bunch of songs at once and I learn it pretty quickly. FYI, I absolutly love distortion. :D

I am a very musical person. Classical music, Rococo, Baroque, and then Jmusic, pop, country, rock all inspire me.

I'm a failed music student. I tried to play violin but only did it for 2 years when I was 10. I've been really into cello since about 2 years ago but I haven't had the time to take it up yet. Maybe in college :)

I play violin! I hardly ever practice though, I'm starting to get better at that. I want to get better and everything, but it is just so boring to practice! And since i used to hardly ever practice, it means I have to make up for all that time where I was stupid and lazy.
I'm teaching myself how to play piano, it's going all right, I've been playing for a few weeks and I can play most of the songs that my sister who has been learning for almost two years can play.
I have an electric guitar (with hello kitty on it!) but I really have no idea how to play it. People say it's really easy, but I just can't get it. My dad keeps trying to teach me, but it's so confusing when I've never played anything like it.
My friend plays about every band instrument you can think of (calling her a "band nerd" is a huge understatement... she is very proud of being one too...). There were a lot of band nerds and orchestra dork(estras?) at my middle school, it had a huge program (literally half the school was in it, which is about 600 kids)

ooh I've seen that guitar it's a fender isn't it
and the thing is (I'm sorry whatever I might say in advance) but whoever told you that guitar was easy has to either have been playing since they were born and don't remember being a beginer or they are a comeplete moron
prettymuch what I'm trying to say ...DON'T GO INTO SOMETHING EXPECTING IT TO BE EASY......IT'S NOT!! .....especially guitar
okay sorry but I had to say it....I had to
oh and I have a friend just like that but she put quantity over qualuity so she would learn an instrument with basics but not put time on it she would just go on to a new instrument saying she knew after she got down the basics
but you guys should see the stuff I play I'll think I'll post it up here tomorrow it's soooooo awesome

it's because you were already experienced with an instument ....you knew how to read the notes and that's what kills most musicians.....the inabiklity to read music....man I've stumped guitarists that were better than me by doing that.....actually one wanted to play my classical piece and he didn't have a clue how to read the music....actually when he first asked to learn it he asked for a tab........tabs are too easy and not used by classical guitarists

oh yeah that's what my mom says...she actually says i have a good ear, since i did suzuki piano, which doesn't teach reading. it's all done by memory, and ear. I'm actually horrible at reading music. :D haha that's funny. he didn't knowhow to read music? man i'm not even that bad actually i shouldn't say that. I'm pretty decent for only practicing when we have a test or before a concert.
