I got as book on Victorian crafts over Christmas, it's a re-print of a book on Fancy work from 1876 (http://www.hairwork.com/books_for_sale/ladies_fancy_work.htm), and I finally got to trying one of the projects out!
It's a poesy holder made of glass beads, in the book it suggests you take it with you to a ball, and that it will gain you many compliments!
here's my attempt...

The book is a lot of fun for any one looking for some unusual projects over the summer.
It has a section on embroidering with fish scales, and one on making flowers and jewelry out of the hair of the deceased! (there's also more familiar things like beadwork etc)
If any one else has any Victorian projects they've had a go at I'd love to see them!
