Well I'm new here :) How do you do?
I'm from Scotland, I'm nearly sixteen and I have my exams in a few weeks so I should really be studying and not on here but what can you do.. :p
I love lolita fashion but I still haven't managed to put together an outfit due to lack of funds (being a teenager without a job sucks!) but I'm hoping to get one soon. Cause I couldn't afford to buy anything I lost interest in lolita fashion for a while but then I saw Marie Antoinette and it reminded me of lolita for some reason lol. So now I'm totally obsessed again YAY.
I'm looking forward to chatting to you all.

Nice to meet you.
It's difficult to find cheap Lolita clothing but its no impossible. I do not know what Scotland has, store wise, but you can get something online.
An example would be, a t-shirt from Vivian for 16$USD b/c she has a sale going on right now, and a skirt from In The Starlight (http://inthestarlight.com/skirts.html) which ranges from 35$USD to 49$USD, finding knee high socks are pretty easy and you might have a solid pair already so I'm not counting that, then add in a coller *if you desire* for 20$ also from candy violet (http://www.vivcore.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=VC&Product_Code=CV08-003&Category_Code=CV)
and a headdress which can range from 10$USD to 20$USD from in the starlight (http://inthestarlight.com/headwear.html) or maybe barretts from candy violet if you have shorter hair (http://www.vivcore.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=VC&Product_Code=CV08-005&Category_Code=CV)
for 15$. I cannot comment on shoes either b/c you might have something already that would work like Mary Jane's or Ballet shoes. You may also have a petticoat. I also cannot put in the price of shipping because of where you live.
So this outfit would be...
61USD ~ 105USD compared to having to spend 150$ for ONE Jumper from Baby The Stars Shine Bright. In pounds this would be
31.0978 GBP~53.5290 GBP while in Euros this would be
45.6798 EUR~78.6292 EUR. This is based off today's conversion rates. The reason why I wrote a ~ was to represent range.
A petticoat can range from 49/56 USD from Candy Violet and 37/38 USD from in the starlight.
Shoes can be any price really.
Socks (w/lace etc) can range from 15 USD from in the starlight and 1795 YEN (15.0486 USD USD) to 3150 YEN (26.4126 USD) from Baby The Stars Shine Bright.
It should always be noted that if the price is low they're going to use cheap fabric so don't expect too much. I also am only using 3 stores. From what I've heard, Candy Violet is rather high quality while in the starlight is high with the sewing/composition part but lacking on the fabrics/lace because of how low the prices are. This is also a Casual outfit because I was trying to make it as low priced as possible. H&M, Forever21 and other stores (I do not know if they're international sorry) also are helpful because you never know what you can find so it's good to look in every store when you go to the mall or something. I hope this helps! :)
EDIT: sorry the t-shirts are 18$ so add that on. o-o

Welcome!
It's wonderful to hear from another Lolita/Marie Antoinette fan :D It's so easy to lose interest/commitment to a fashion you really like, but don't have the funds for. (I'm a college student with only a part time job). Lots of times I've had to put lolita fashion on the backburner, simply because I didn't have the resources. You know, I'm finding it more economical to customize/alter common clothing items with tons of lace/ribbons, turning them into Lolita wear. . .Once you get going, it can be fun. :yum: Good luck!
