Wow, I've got a whole list dedicated to insanely pretty movies. Heres a few of my favorites:
Memento Mori-especially the diary the two girls kept, it was really fascinating!
Totoro
Ghost in the Shell 1 and 2
The Dark Crystal-HUGE props to Jim Henson for that one. I miss him dearly now that hes gone.
All About Lilly Chou-Chou
Varekai-this is movie I found at a used book store that is supposed to be used by people considering this Cirque Du Soliel production for an emmy nomination.
Velvet Goldmine
Alice in Wonderland-butterandbreadflies!
Mary Poppins
Neverwhere-Neil Gaiman's mini series about London Below.
.....I think I'll stop now.....
A Tale of Two Sisters and Amelie were beautiful.

Enchanted April
Return of the King (heck the whole Trilogy)
Sense and Sensibility
I agree with Spirited Away and Ghost In the Shell-Innocence (the freaky scene with the crazy house/palace was incredible) and Dark Crystal kicks serious muppet ass.
Other stunning but older animated films for me are
The Last Unicorn (awesome book too)
Watership Down (also an awesome book)
There are more movies but my brain is fried. I sewed my finger while working on a project to give you all a sense of it. :p

A throwback to classic style- The Women from 1939- It's black and white but they do a fashion show in color halfway through. Pretty cool for way back when. I wish I had clothes like that ::sigh::

I have to agree with racks_hime. The Last Unicorn and Watership Down were awsome! The crazy rabbitts creeped me out in both the book and the movie.

I can so quote that entire series :p I'm concerned about the Keira Knightly version if for the same reasons we're all freaking out about MoaG: the hair and costuming look awful (but in this case, pretty period correct) and Ms. Knightly doesn't strike me as a person I could believe as Lizzy. Jennifer Ehle was so wonderfully voluptuous that Keira looks weird to me, plus I don't know if she can be as convincingly witty and endearing.
Sorry for the thread hijack!
WimpyRen- The Women is a great movie! Those women could wear some clothes! It had a great plot and was ahead of its time.
On that note, another visually stunning movie with Rosalind Russell was Auntie Mame (NOT the Lucille Ball version)
The set for Mame's house is so cool- it changes over the years. Mame's clothes are also to die for!

Agreed Raks_hime- I always like to see the older flicks that weren't so stereotypical of the time. Great clothing and sets can't hurt either

LOTR movies especially The return of the king.
The movie Spirit had some really great art.
Phantom of the Opera the new one..just stunning and beautiful.
Hero, Crounching tiger hidden dragon and House of the flying daggers..the colors in them where so bright and lovely plus the effects where great.
Dark Crystal definitely stands out, its a movie which you always remember.

Indeed, Dark Crystal kicks butt. As do all the martial arts movies you mentioned. They were very bezoomny and fabulous!
Edit: Auntie Mame sounds interesting, I might see it if I can find it on dvd.

Auntie Mame is a really funny movie- you end up wishing you had someone like Mame in your lfe. It's well written. Just avoid the Lucille Ball version like the plague.

I second that! Hurry off and get one, and that goes for anyone who hasn't seen it. Get the Labyrinth movie while your at it, as that is another terrific puppet muppet movie. Also A Clockwork Orange, which is twisted but brilliant.

The Pillow Book with Ewan McGregor is such a gorgeous film. It's pretty in every way, not just the Ewan way, too. Plus, the idea of the film itself is very interesting, along with the switching between Japanese, Chinese, and English.
Actually, every Peter Greenaway film is visually breathtaking.
Also, Philip Glass does the soundtrack to "Mishima: A life in 4 chapters", which is also a very artistic, well filmed.... film. :p

A Tale of two sisters was gorgeous! The colors were wonderful :)
Spirited Away was beautiful (as are all of Miyazaki's works)... But I really think that the most visually stunning movie, to me at least, is Apocalypse Now (even though it's not a very uplifting flim :D ). There are some very artfull shots that I marvel at every time.

The Fifth Element, Spirited Away, Moulin Rouge and Romeo + Juliet, anything involving Tim Burton, Memento, Sin City, and too many others to really name. :p
I love movies that pull me in, and it takes something very visually powerful to do that.
